Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enterprise Application Services

University of Denver (DU) seeks a dynamic, distinguished executive to serve as its next Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enterprise Application Services (AVC). This is a unique opportunity to join a vibrant and progressive university located in one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S and lead the Enterprise Application Services (EAS) unit within the IT organization. This critical hire will shape the software application portfolio for the oldest, independent university in the Rocky Mountain region.

The University’s vision for the future is exciting and will be realized through the DU Impact 2025 strategic plan. Under the leadership of a new Chancellor, the University is transforming while being guided by its core values of excellence, innovation, engagement, integrity and inclusiveness. As a result, the new AVC will play an integral role in supporting DU’s future direction and in achieving its strategic goals by enabling a robust enterprise applications and analytics environment.

Reporting to the Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer (VC/CIO), the AVC will lead the EAS unit by providing the vision, leadership, project management and technical expertise to ensure the successful deployment of DU's software application strategy. The AVC will partner with the VC/CIO and IT leadership team in the development and implementation of strategic plans and initiatives for the IT division. This leader will ensure that current and future software applications are efficient and effective while maintaining an appropriate balance between leading-edge activities and core business processes. The AVC will also align with and maintain the commitment to the IT strategic direction of increasing the use of Software-as-a-Service and cloud-based applications.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader with a demonstrated track record in effectively leading and managing an enterprise applications department within a complex environment, preferably an institution of higher education. Experience implementing, optimizing and integrating enterprise systems successfully, including cloud-based solutions, is essential. This leader must have strong project management skills as well as a broad understanding of core and niche software solutions necessary to meet the technology needs of a university. The AVC must be a collaborative partner who can build trust, credibility and consensus with stakeholders across DU to accomplish goals. The AVC will be an innovative leader who is aware of emerging technologies and how they can bring value to assist in meeting the rapidly changing demands in higher education.
