The Department of Cell Biology and Biochemistry in the TTUHSC School of Medicine seeks to recruit a rising star/mid-career investigator to fill a faculty position (Associate or full Professor depending on eligibility) supported by the Kayla Weitlauf Endowment. The successful candidate must have a strong track record of discovery and extramural grant funding with a primary interest in research areas related to women’s health. This position also has potential for considerable state funding via special recruitment grants and also for research support via competitive grant programs from the Cancer Prevention Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) (http://www.cprit.state.tx.us).

The department (https://www.ttuhsc.edu/medicine/cell-biology-biochemistry/default.aspx) currently comprises fourteen full-time faculty studying biochemistry and cellular and molecular biology of widely ranging topics in medicine and biology, including cancer, reproduction, diabetes, metabolism, development, and neurodegenerative diseases. We enjoy a collegial and cooperative research environment both within and between departments that is especially conducive to collaboration and scientific discourse.

This position will be a primary appointment in the School of Medicine, with state-supported salary, and a concurrent appointment in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences that affords opportunities to recruit and advise excellent graduate students from the Biomedical Sciences and Biotechnology graduate programs. Salary and lab set-up package are nationally competitive. Applicants must have a terminal degree (Ph.D., M.D. or US Equivalent) and a commitment to sustained research in women’s health.
