Position Description:  The Department of Criminal Justice is seeking to fill one full-time tenured/tenure-track position beginning Fall 2020 at the Associate/Assistant Professor level.  Responsibilities include conducting and publishing scholarly research, seeking extramural funding, teaching face-to-face and online courses, and service to the department, university and profession.

UTEP enrolls more than 25,000 students, of whom nearly 80 percent are Latino. The Department of CJ offers an on-campus B.A. in Criminal Justice, an equivalent 100% online B.A., and an M.S. in Criminology and Criminal Justice. The CJ Department has developed agency relationships to provide faculty with access to agency-based research opportunities.

Required Qualifications for Associate: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology or closely related field and have 5 or more years post Ph.D. teaching experience, and a scholarly record of research publications and grant activity.  Applicants with only a J.D., Psy.D., or Ed.D. will not be considered.

Required Qualifications for Assistant: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology or closely related field.  ABD applicants will be considered if doctorate will be in hand by Fall 2020.  Active research agenda and scholarly research publications required. Applicants with only a J.D., Psy.D., or Ed.D. will not be considered.

Preferred Areas: All research areas of criminal justice, criminology, and social justice as it relates to CJ will be considered. Teaching areas are open, but preferred teaching areas include criminal justice policy/systems or research methods/program evaluation.
