Assistant Professor of Sport Management

The Department of Sport Management in the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa is seeking candidates for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2020.

 

The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially based private institution of 9,200 undergraduate and graduate students. The University is ideally situated on a beautiful 110-acre campus next to the Hillsborough River, adjacent to Tampa’s dynamic central business district, which is a growing, vibrant, diverse metropolitan area. The teaching responsibilities associated with this position may include upper and lower level undergraduate courses  in the areas of International Sport and Sport Marketing.

Candidates are expected to have a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring student experiential learning opportunities, scholarly activity and service within the environment of an undergraduate liberal arts institution. A typical teaching load is 12 contact hours in a 14-week semester

The University of Tampa Sport Management Department consists of five tenure track faculty members and a full-time internship coordinator serving 300 majors. The program is accredited by COSMA and is located in downtown Tampa in close proximity to numerous opportunities for student volunteer and internship experiences.

 

An earned doctorate by August 2020 in Sport Management or a closely related field is required. The preferred candidate should have expertise in one or more of the following content areas: International Sport and Sport Marketing. The ability to teach in other core sport management content areas is also desirable. Preferential consideration may be given to candidates with practical sport industry work experience and prior collegiate teaching experience.
