Summary of Position:

ANFS seeks candidates for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor rank to begin in August of 2020. Successful candidates should possess expertise in human nutrition and demonstrate a trajectory toward outstanding scholarship and research. We seek candidates with teaching and research interests related to the impacts of food production, safety, access, consumption, and/or policy as it pertains to human health outcomes.

The Department and Program:

The Agriculture, Nutrition, and Food Systems (ANFS) Department (http://colsa.unh.edu/anfs) currently serves undergraduate majors through its Animal Science, Nutrition, Equine Studies, and Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems programs, as well as graduate students and dietetic interns through a variety of departmental and college-wide programs. The Nutrition Program offers three undergraduate options within the major and serves almost 250 students; graduate offerings include thesis-based masters and doctoral programs, a combined masters with dietetic internship, an accelerated 3+2 BS/MS program, as well as a graduate certificate in dietetics.

Current ANFS faculty research areas include nutritional epidemiology, human nutrition & disease prevention, animal and plant production, plant breeding and applied genomics, plant pathology, and dairy cattle nutrition. We are a vibrant, new, interdisciplinary department, well-positioned to engage in cross-disciplinary research and teaching at the interface of our food system and human health.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications:

• A Doctoral degree in nutritional sciences or related discipline, and demonstrated potential for extramural funding.
• A demonstrated interest in integrating across multiple dimensions of the food system.
• A record of scholarly research that aligns with the position description and complements existing expertise within the department and college.
• Demonstrated potential in teaching and mentoring of our graduate and undergraduate students .
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• An understanding and appreciation of the integrated teaching, research, and service component of UNH’s land-grant mission and the trans-disciplinary alignment of agriculture, nutrition, and food systems science in higher education.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Postdoctoral training
• Teaching and/or advising experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
