Assistant Professor of Biology (Conservation Genetics)

The Department of Biology in the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa invites applications for a tenure track position in Conservation Genetics at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in August 2020. Area of research expertise is open within the confines of this discipline.

 

The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially based private institution of 9,200 undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills, as well as dedication and commitment to high quality and innovative instruction to undergraduate students. The candidate will teach 12 contact hours each semester, by teaching an upper-level Conservation Genetics course for majors once a year and contributing to our introductory biology, genetics, and/or non-science major lecture courses as assigned by the department chair.

 

The candidate is expected to engage in scholarly and research activities that involve undergraduates, advise students, and provide service to the department, college, university and broader community. Research activities must yield peer-reviewed publications. 

 

PhD strongly preferred (advanced ABD candidates considered), prior teaching and research experience with undergraduates is desirable.  A personal commitment to quality undergraduate teaching and advising is essential.  

 

Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. Modest start-up packages and modest research space are available for tenure-track positions.
