Dean, School of Business

The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invites inquiries, nominations, and expressions of interest for its next Dean of the School of Business. Ranked one of the top public colleges in the nation, TCNJ's School of Business is also consistently rated among the top undergraduate programs in business education. A broad foundation in liberal arts coupled with specialized knowledge in targeted areas of study prepares graduates with the intellectual flexibility to succeed in an increasingly complex global marketplace. Enrolling over 1,200 students in eight undergraduate programs, specializations and minors, the School's graduates measure success beyond the bottom line from creating innovation in business practice to engaging as socially responsible citizens.

Over the last year, the College community worked with its new president, Dr. Kathryn Foster, to clarify institutional priorities, and align strategy, budget, and programming to ensure that the institution is making the most responsible and wise choices for today and tomorrow. This work forms a strong foundation upon which TCNJ will build a future that is "bold, compelling, and ambitious, yet achievable.”  Working closely with a committed group of faculty and senior leaders, the Dean will be proactive in continuing the strong tradition of nationally ranked undergraduate business education based on excellence in teaching and learning. Business alumni will also prove to be a valuable resource in preparing students for chosen careers or post-undergraduate education. In addition, the School of Business looks forward to building on its recently launched MBA and developing additional, selective graduate programs.

Working in collaboration with TCNJ's six other schools, the next Dean will join a collegial environment focused on student-centeredness and participatory governance. In promoting signature strengths and interdisciplinary collaboration, the Dean will also promote curricula and pedagogical innovations in teaching and learning that provide increased pathways for study in growing fields. Additionally, TCNJ is centrally located among many large and innovative companies in the Northeast corridor. The next Dean will leverage this asset, by having the vision and desire to focus on establishing and developing new and existing relationships with companies and firms.

The successful candidate should exhibit outstanding leadership skills, a commitment to inclusiveness and transparency, and the ability to connect with the College’s various constituencies, building consensus with a diverse and talented body of students, faculty and staff.

The School of Business has 43 full-time faculty and 8 staff, and offers AACSB-accredited degree programs in eight baccalaureate programs, plus a recently introduced MBA. The School's academic units include Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, and Marketing and Interdisciplinary Business, along with minors in additional areas including Business and Society, Human Resource Management, Information Systems and Technology, International Business, and Professional Selling. Further business, learning, and service opportunities are offered through the School's Center for Innovation and Ethics as well as its Small Business Development Center.
