Department of Visual Communication and Technology Education (VCTE). Bowling Green State University

Position: Full-time, tenured position at the rank of Full Professor and Chair in the Department of Visual Communication and

Technology Education (VCTE). Preferred starting date is January 2020, but August 2020 is negotiable.

Primary Responsibilities: Leading program & curriculum development, recruitment, retention, and quality instruction;

Coordinating and supervising department programs, reviews, accreditation and assessment; Performance evaluations and

professional development of faculty and staff; Leading in developing and encouraging scholastic activities connected to

publication, exhibits, and external funding through collaborations;

Communicating departmental needs and desires to the Dean and Provost; Supervising the departmental budget, record

keeping, and the requisition of supplies, equipment, materials, and other instructional needs; Developing and assuring

compliance with procedures for resolving student complaints about faculty, courses and/or programs.

Minimum Qualifications: (1) The applicant must have an earned Ph.D. degree in fields such as computer science or

computing technology, emerging technology, emerging media or other degrees related to advances in visual communication

and/or applied computing technologies. (2) The applicant must have a professional record commensurate with appointment

at the rank of full professor. (3) The applicant must have a proven record of teaching and developing courses at both the

undergraduate and graduate level in areas related to study and design of applying technology to develop products. (4) Skills

or experience in administration such as oversight of academic programs, implementing rules and procedures, budgeting,

collaborative development of procedures, strategic planning, program development and planning, personnel management

and supervision, and workload planning. (5) Experience in leading service, program, research, or other activities at the

department, college, university, and/or professional levels.
