This important position encompasses three roles simultaneously for Rady Children's Hospital San Diego (“RCHSD”) , the University of California, San Diego (“UCSD”) School of Medicine, and Children's Specialists of San Diego (“CSSD”). This individual will focus on advancing the clinical mission, as well as help facilitate teaching and research on the RCHSD and UCSD campuses.

Rady Children's Specialists of San Diego is a Medical Subspecialty Group belonging to a medical practice foundation formed through a partnership among Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego, UC San Diego School of Medicine, and Children's Specialists of San Diego. The partnership fosters the delivery of high-quality care throughout the region and beyond, brings the best minds in medicine together to train the next generation of pediatric subspecialists, and discover treatments and cures for childhood diseases.

Reporting to the UC San Diego (UCSD) Vice Chancellor, Health Sciences, the Dean for Children's Clinical Programs has primary responsibility and authority for all children's clinical service programs provided under the RCHSD-UCSD Affiliation and for advancing the clinical delivery vision as it relates to the strategic plan. The person holding this position will work closely with the Dean, Children's Academic Programs, UCSD Department Chairs, with the responsibility and authority for the children's services in both the inpatient and outpatient arenas. This position serves as a key liaison between the UCSD School of Medicine, UCSD Hospitals, RCHSD and CSSD. In coordination with the appropriate department chairs, the selected candidate will ensure physician recruitment and staffing alignment with the clinical needs. As Dean, has the responsibility to the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Medical Foundation, including the development and implementation of strategic, operating and capital plans and ensuring the operations of the Medical Foundation comply with the University's policies, procedures and mission. This position also sets standards and implements all necessary actions to meet such standards, regarding clinical care for physician staffing, quality of service, patient access to pediatric care, as well as quality of care.

In collaboration with the Departments, will ensure that physicians and physician leaders are well represented, engaged, and ensuring clinical programs are well integrated with and positioned to successfully support the community providers, patients, and trainees we serve. In partnership with the pertinent UCSD department chairs, this position is intended to focus on achieving the overall goal of moving RCHSD into the "top 10" of children's hospitals nationwide.

Candidates must have a MD or MD/PhD or equivalent. Candidates with an MD or equivalent must be board certified/board eligible in Pediatrics and subspecialty training in the fields of a medical or surgical subspecialty. Candidates with an MD or equivalent must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
