The Meadows School of the Arts, a comprehensive arts school, seeks an Artist in Residence in Ballet in the Division of Dance at Southern Methodist University. Responsibilities include teaching four levels of ballet technique, men’s class and pas de deux, choreographing for main stage productions and/or restaging masterworks, mentoring student projects and participating in administrative duties such as undergraduate advising, attending faculty meetings and serving on committees.  Candidates should have a significant national/international profile with a record of distinction as an artist and teacher. University level teaching and expertise in one other area of dance related studies such as composition is desirable but not required. We are seeking candidates who have strong leadership skills and are interested in participating in community engagement efforts designed to build and nurture relationships with a diverse and globally connected community both at the university and in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Terminal degree and/or equivalent professional performing experience required. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Position begins August 1, 2020 and will be offered as a 3-year contract. To ensure full consideration for the position, applications should be submitted by November 15, 2019.
