Lecturer II

The Department of Nuclear Engineering at the University of New Mexico is seeking a non-tenure-track position at the rank of Lecturer II.

The primary responsibility will be instruction and oversight of the UNM AGN-201M Nuclear Reactor.

Teaching responsibilities will be the NE 413L/513L Nuclear Reactor Laboratory course and any other course related to the Nuclear Reactor.

Oversight of the reactor involves interface with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requires that UNM have a Reactor Supervisor to facilitate use of UNM's AGN-201 reactor for teaching and research.

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

 

  • An earned master's degree in Nuclear Engineering or equivalent
  • Licensed as a Senior Reactor Operator by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience at the University level
  • Experience with community outreach and student recruitment
  • Successful candidates should demonstrate good communication skills, and commitment to excellence in teaching using a variety of methods
  • Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to engineering education in a student-centered environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
