Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the newly named David B. O’Maley College of Business. Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, the Dean is the College’s academic and administrative leader, and will have responsibility for providing direction in teaching and   research, and in building successful collaborative relationships with external constituents and within the College and the University.   She or he is expected to take the lead in shaping the future of the College, articulating a vision that defines its standard of excellence, and sustaining and enhancing the outstanding reputation and brand of the O’Maley College of Business.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) is recognized as  the world leader in aviation and aerospace higher education. The University’s mission is to teach the science, practice and business necessary to prepare students for productive careers and leadership roles in business, government agencies, and the military. ERAU has traditional, residential campuses in Daytona Beach, Florida and Prescott, Arizona. Within the past several years, ERAU has established a  campus in Singapore, with over 600 undergraduate students. In addition, ERAU’s Worldwide Campus provides educational opportunities at over 135 worldwide locations and is ranked #1 by U.S. News and World Report for its online bachelor degree programs. ERAU’s reputation as a leader in aviation and aerospace higher education is grounded in its aviation roots dating back to 1926, and more recently with its highly-ranked aerospace engineering programs in Daytona Beach and Prescott.

The O’Maley College of Business, situated on the Daytona Beach campus, serves approximately 400 undergraduate and  graduate (master’s and Ph.D.) students and has approximately 40 (full- and part-time) faculty. The College is organized into two departments: the Department of Accounting, Economics, Finance and Information Sciences and the Department of Management, Marketing and Operations. The College offers two undergraduate degree programs: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with three majors (Accounting & Finance, Management and Marketing) and Bachelor of Science in Aviation Business Administration with two majors (Air Transportation and Supply Chain Management in Aviation and Aerospace). It also offers a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Business Administration in Aviation Management, a Master of Science in Aviation Finance, and a Ph.D. in Aviation Business Administration. The College houses the Center for Entrepreneurship, providing  opportunities for business students to work with start-up companies located in the Micaplex research park, as well as  opportunities for students to develop their own new ventures.

The O’Maley College of Business is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). The B.S. in Aviation Business Administration is also accredited by the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI), a nonprofit organization that sets standards for AABI-accredited aerospace programs taught in colleges and universities in the United States and around the world.

With the arrival of a new University President, Dr. P. Barry Butler, the support of Mr. O’Maley for whom the College has been named, and with the support of ERAU’s Board of Trustees, there is a renewed University focus, energy and commitment to ERAU’s business programs. As a result, the new Dean will play a critical role in enhancing the importance and stature of the O’Maley College of Business within the ERAU community, and with ERAU’s many stakeholders.

The Dean of the O’Maley College of Business should have an earned doctorate or terminal degree in a discipline related to programs offered by the College, or a closely related discipline. In addition to traditional backgrounds within higher education, outstanding leaders with experience in business, the government, the military or other complex organizational settings will be considered.

The new Dean will be a visionary leader who is responsible for all aspects of academic and administrative life within the College, including budgets, teaching, research and all matters involving faculty, staff and students. The successful candidate will possess outstanding leadership skills coupled with the ability to serve as an articulate  advocate for the College within the higher education and business communities, locally, nationally and internationally. The Dean will promote excellence in the College’s teaching, research,  and service activities. The Dean will also play the central role in fundraising for the College and developing external and internal relationships across the ERAU community and beyond. The Dean will additionally work to build successful, collaborative  partnerships with other ERAU colleges, as well as with the Prescott and Worldwide business programs.
