The University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) invites applications and nominations for endowed chair of the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Genetics within the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

The chair will be responsible for the mentorship and development of faculty and staff as well as expanding interdisciplinary collaborative research and teaching opportunities.

The desired candidate will possess a doctorate degree and hold the rank of full professor with tenure (non-clinical), have a history of RO1 or equivalent funding and demonstrated ability to mentor and develop faculty.

Additionally, a successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of a collaborative and shared leadership style; evidence of being adaptable to change; experience with grant writing and grant reviews; encourage open communication and expression with all members of the team; is clear and decisive in decision making; takes a personal interest in each team member; has a positive attitude during adversity; punctual and meets deadlines; possesses values that align with UNTHSC; develop direction of and alignment within the department; evaluate faculty throughout the year and in an annual evaluation; mentor faculty for higher productivity (i.e. grants and publications); foster teaching with funded faculty and those with potential; and develop a cohesive unit.
