Visiting Lecturer/Instructor

Job Description:

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Central Florida (UCF) is recruiting for three nine-month, non-tenure earning faculty positions at the rank of visiting instructor or visiting lecturer, with an anticipated start date in August 2019. These positions are renewable for up to three years based on need, funding, and performance. It is expected that successful candidates will take a role in developing curriculum and pedagogy with the intent of improving student learning in undergraduate courses. Successful candidates will be assigned teaching and additional duties including, but not limited to, program planning, assessment, and professional development.

Position Minimum Qualifications:

For instructor rank, an M.S. degree from an accredited institution in mathematics or a closely related field is required by the time of the application.

For lecturer rank, a Ph.D. degree from an accredited institution in mathematics or a closely related field is required by the time of the application.

Preferences:

For all positions, preference will be given to candidates with one or more of the following:

* Equivalent of two years teaching college level mathematics full time;

* Experience in teaching large classes of more than 150 students;

* Experience in using online technology in teaching mathematics courses;

* Experience with adaptive learning environments;

* Experience with classroom management techniques for large classes;

* Experience in leading campus initiatives related to mathematics curricula;

* Experience in developing new curricula;

* Experience in writing education grant proposals.
