The Search

California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) is seeking a visionary, forward-thinking leader and senior-level manager to serve as its next Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management (AVPEM). Through strategic leadership, technology innovation and data driven oversight, the AVPEM will seek sustained, positive results with all aspects of the student lifecycle, in student recruitment, enrollment, retention, and graduation, and at a key moment in the University’s history. The next AVPEM will execute innovative practices that support access and degree attainment in all academic programs. The AVPEM will bring an established record of accomplishments, have an appreciation for recruiting in historically underrepresented markets, and demonstrate experience assessing and developing targeted student markets.

CSUDH is a highly diverse, metropolitan university primarily serving the South Bay area of Los Angeles County. Established in 1960, CSU Dominguez Hills is one of the 23 campuses that comprise the California State University system. A public, co-education institution, Dominguez Hills enrolls over 15,000 students across six colleges. The University is a leader in developing outstanding programs that foster a college-focused culture in the communities it serves, with a goal of becoming a national model for student success grounded in academic excellence. The 346-acre campus is in Carson, California, just 10 miles from the beach and 13 miles from downtown Los Angeles.

Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the AVPEM will supervise the offices of Outreach, Admissions, Records and Registration, Financial Aid; and Enrollment Management Communications, and will work collaboratively with colleagues across the institution in the development, execution and assessment of a strategic enrollment management plan that advances the University’s Strategic Plan. As a visionary leader who possesses a high level of operation management, the AVPEM will be an important bridge between the work of student affairs and enrollment, and academic affairs and the faculty. An important goal for the AVPEM will be to fuse the work of institutional technology, institutional research, and enrollment management to serve the University’s students and advance its mission.

The successful candidate will have at least 10 years of progressively responsible and demonstrated success in higher education enrollment management, including marketing, data-driven programs, budgetary and personnel responsibilities, enrollment management planning, contract management, and program development, with leadership experience in admissions, financial aid and registration preferred. The next AVPEM will plan and implement a strategic process for a cohesive and unified enrollment management function; seek to incorporate technology, analytics, and data to more comprehensively to manage the University’s enrollment numbers; partner with offices in the enrollment management, student success and student life units in a coherent manner to enhance enrollment, student success, retention, and completion. The successful candidate will collaborate with other divisions to execute the University’s core educational mission, and emphasize cultural sensitivity, diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the enrollment management process, while supporting the professional development of staff in the enrollment management area. The AVPEM will also seek to provide local and national leadership in enrollment management while increasing communications on- and off-campus.
