Georgia State University, a leading urban research institution located in Atlanta, Georgia, seeks highly qualified applicants for a full-time tenure-track faculty position to participate in the new, interdisciplinary initiative in Precision Medicine and Health Equity, which was created with funding through the University’s Next Generation program. An interdisciplinary group at GSU (public health, law, molecular genetics, economics) wishes to pursue a broad agenda in Precision Medicine that will encompass laboratory science, population health, health disparities and inequalities, the legal and ethical foundation for genetic therapies, and the economic implications of such treatments. We seek a scholar in any of those fields to join these efforts

Candidates who demonstrate a strong record of independent or collaborative research with extramural funding support are preferred. Prior work experience in a university setting is highly desirable. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach within the appropriate academic unit; provide academic and research advisement to graduate students; collaborate with faculty from disciplines such as law, economics, health policy, and public health to increase Georgia State’s research capacity, expand expertise in precision medicine and health equity; participate in external grants and contracts; produce appropriate scholarship; and, promote and sustain interdisciplinary dialogue and academic service. Appointment will be in one of the following units, as appropriate: the School of Public Health, the College of Law, the Institute of Biomedical Science and the Department of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies.

Applications are encouraged from candidates who would diversify the faculty. Georgia State University, a unit of the University System of Georgia, is an equal opportunity educational institution and an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
