The Opportunity

The Georgia Institute of Technology, also known as Georgia Tech, is a top-ranked public college and one of the leading research universities in the USA.  Georgia Tech provides a technologically focused education to more than 32,500 undergraduate and graduate students in fields ranging from engineering, computing, and sciences, to business, design, and liberal arts.  Georgia Tech is ranked the 8th Top Public University and the 35th National University by U.S. News & World Report.  In FY18, Georgia Tech’s R&D expenditures were $908M. On June 13, 2019, Dr. Ángel Cabrera was appointed by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia to the role of president for the university, effective September 1, 2019. Dr. Cabrera currently serves as the president of George Mason University and is a Georgia Tech alumnus.

As Chief Business Officer of Georgia Tech, the EVP will provide exceptional leadership and direction to business and financial functions including planning and resource management, financial and business services, campus services, human resources, information technology, campus planning, design and construction, operations and maintenance, strategic consulting, and police and public safety.  The EVP will establish goals for these functions, determine resources needed to meet these goals, assess performance, provide feedback and make strategic decisions.

Reporting to the President, the EVP is a member of the President’s Cabinet, and will interact consistently, as well as advise and counsel, with the President, President’s Cabinet, Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia and other key internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is an expert in building and leading effective teams; ensuring accountability; a collaborative leader with a proven track record of increasingly complex administrative roles.  S/He will demonstrate a commitment to valuing differences, solving issues through a global perspective lens, and committed to partnering with the academic and research enterprises to ensure their continued success at Georgia Tech.
