Summary: The Associate Director of Prospect Development is a member of the Office of Development within the Division of University Advancement, reporting directly to the Director of Prospect Development. The Prospect Development unit assists with Miami University’s fundraising efforts by leading prospect research efforts, establishing and enforcing prospect management practices, overseeing performance management, and using analytics to help the University achieve its top priorities. The scope of prospect development tasks and duties is determined by the Assistant Vice President, Campaign Services, and the Senior Vice President of University Advancement.

Duties:

•Research leadership and major gift prospects to determine major gift capacity and recommend high-level volunteers for key engagement opportunities by using industry standard methods for prospecting. 
•Work with the department's Director to develop goals, maximize use of resources and execute best practices for areas within Prospect Development. 
•Oversee Prospect Management operations, including evaluation and prioritization of all Development Officer prospect portfolios and prospect pipelines, and applying best practices to strengthen/maintain high-quality pools.
•Keep abreast of research methods and resources by attending training sessions and networking with other research professionals via organizational memberships and conferences, focusing on prospect research and fundraising issues.
•Train and manage student workers who are charged with completing tasks for Prospect Development.
•Develop and lead training sessions for Prospect Development staff, as well as divisional partners, as needed. 
•Provide research support to specific college and units, as directed.
•In absence of Director, oversee operations of the Prospect Development team, and provide immediate support to university and divisional leadership.
•Assist with high-level research, departmental and divisional projects.
•Serve on related committees as needed.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years experience in prospect development, research, development, alumni relations or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Internships, volunteer work, and other experience gained during the completion of degree programs may be counted towards these requirements.

Desired Qualifications: Master’s degree in relevant field. Experience in nonprofit development arena, particularly relational fundraising and prospect research and management strategies. Management and analytics experience. Excellent problem identification and solving, ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously, team-player with focus on building strong relationship and delivering information in a clear and timely manner. Experience with research and wealth-screening tools (including but not limited to Lexis-Nexis, iWave, LinkedIn, and Wealth-X). Knowledge of Miami University’s systems, Banner 9, data structures, and overall organization landscape.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent written and oral communication skills, solid work ethic, and commitment to integrity and appropriate use of confidential material. Proficiency with computer operating systems (Microsoft Windows), Microsoft Office Suite, databases and reporting systems.
