The Department of Engineering Education (DEE) within the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Cincinnati (UC) invites applications for a non-tenure track position at the level of an Assistant Professor Educator to support its educational mission. DEE provides a number of common courses, including those taken by all first-year engineering students (e.g., Introduction to Engineering Design Thinking I and II). The primary responsibility will be teaching DEE courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level at UC’s Cincinnati campus and teaching engineering undergraduate courses at the Joint Engineering Co-op Institute (JCI), which is a joint venture between UC and Chongqing University, in Chongqing, China.  It is required for this position to teach at least one semester per year at JCI in Chongqing, China, and such courses will be taught in English. Candidates will be required to obtain immigration documents for entry into/work eligibility in China.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a Ph.D. in the field of Engineering Education or closely related field prior to effective date of the appointment.

Primary duties include: course preparation, delivering course content, and leading laboratories, holding office hours, grading and preparing assessment materials. Additional responsibilities will entail participating in curriculum/course development, developing distance learning courses, service related activities, such as advising student organizations, academic standards review, and outreach activities.

Appointment Details: Initial appointment is up to three years and can be renewed. It is required for this position to teach at least one semester per year in China. Anticipated work load is four courses per semester.
