The University of Mississippi invites nominations and applications for the appointment of Chancellor. The Board of Trustees seeks a dynamic, creative and accomplished leader with vision, energy and integrity who can build upon the success of the university in continuing to enhance the state, region, and nation through comprehensive academic, research, and public service initiatives.


The University of Mississippi (UM), affectionately known as Ole Miss, was founded in 1848 by the Mississippi Legislature and was the first public institution of higher learning in the state of Mississippi. Today the University enrolls over 23,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Located on its main campus in Oxford are the College of Liberal Arts; the schools of Accountancy, Applied Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, Journalism and New Media, Pharmacy, and Law; and the Graduate School. In addition, UM has regional campuses in Tupelo, DeSoto, Booneville, Grenada, and the UM Medical Center in Jackson. The University employs 878 full-time faculty and has 2,400 staff members. For fiscal year 2020, the University’s total budget is $2.59 billion.
