POSITION SUMMARY:
Seeking to accelerate our vision to be the exemplar catalyst for innovation and advancement of the profession of public health, locally and globally, the University of South Florida College of Public Health invites applications for an Instructor to teach courses for the undergraduate minor in Nutrition and serve as a coordinator for the Nutrition and Dietetics Program which includes the Dietetic Internship and MPH concentration in Nutrition and Dietetics. This is a special opportunity to join a dynamic faculty actively engaged in shaping the future of public health through innovative curricula, transformational research and community partnerships designed to create positive collective impact on health.

Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, service, and related activities. May be responsible for research and/or academic advising and related activities.  May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional Duties: A teaching load of 1-2 undergraduate nutrition courses per semester. Assist with curriculum review and revision to assure alignment of competencies and learning opportunities.  Work with program director and other USF units to monitor student learning outcomes and the academic progress of students. Assist with preceptor and supervised practice site evaluation

Research Duties: Assist with the preparation of summary reports and presentations. Contribute to scientific and professional presentations and publications

Administrative Duties: Respond to program inquiries from prospective interns. Assist with review and evaluation of DI applicants and computer matching. Assist with onboarding new students. Schedule, coordinate and monitor supervised practice experiences. Develop and revise recruitment materials and program and preceptor handbooks. Assist program director with development of surveys and evaluation tools. Provide coverage in Program Director?s absence. Special projects as assigned. Assist with ongoing program evaluation and improvement. Assist with outcome measurement of program goals and objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties.  Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), credentialed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Must be able to be certified by SACS to teach undergraduate courses in nutrition.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional practice experience
  • Familiarity with 2017 ACEND Accreditation Standards for Nutrition and Dietetics Internship Programs
  • At least one year experience teaching online or in person
  • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Experience using Canvas, BlackBoard or other on-line learning platforms 
  • Experience in curriculum development
