Position Summary:

This position will provide strategic vision and leadership to drive an equitable, inclusive and diverse community, culture and climate within Infrastructure Planning and Facilities.  It will oversee and coordinate the implementation of the Unit Equity, Inclusion and Diversity (EID) strategic framework with an emphasis on goal and tactic development. This position will lead ongoing internal assessments to identify and overcome barriers to the goals of achieving standards of excellence for EID and lead educational events and subcommittees unit-wide to achieve goals.  It will also serve as a resource in a large complex administrative unit and act as a liaison to MSU Human Resources to manage and coordinate human resource activities and to interpret and implement human resource policies, procedures and practices.

 

This position will engage in High Performance, leading edge practices, which are Innovative in their approach to increased Stewardship and Service Excellence.

 

Minimum Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Interdisciplinary Studies, Business Administration or related field; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in managing human resource functions with a concentration in equity, inclusion and diversity; experience in project management and facilitation related to equity, inclusion and diversity programs and training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

Experience with higher education or facilities; Demonstrated leadership experience in designing and implementing EID strategic initiatives, statistical analysis and measurement and reporting of performance, with demonstrated record of success in moving the needle within prior organizations related to EID metrics; Experience in a union environment; Experience consulting and presenting to senior executives; Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational and problem solving skills.  Demonstrated ability to set priorities, analyze data and think systematically from both a detailed and a strategic perspective. Ability to build consensus and trust. Creating and conducting training/onboarding programs; Experience and proficiency in the Microsoft Suite and Office 365.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

40%        Facilitates cross unit discussion and participation in the implementation of tactics and goals related to the Unit Equity, Inclusion and Diversity (EID) Strategic Framework and workforce engagement survey results

 

20%        Fosters a culture of inclusiveness and diversity within the unit and works with the Office of Institutional Equity, Employee Relations and the department in the resolution of policy violation related to the Anti- discrimination Policy, RVSM and the Rules Governing personal Conduct.

 

10%        Develops, conducts, and implements Equity, Inclusion and diversity training programs, resources and materials related to the Unit’s strategic plan in collaboration with Learning and Development

 

10%        Organizes and conducts orientation onboarding programs incorporating cultural diversity and inclusion training for unit hires.

 

10%        Provides leadership and assistance to the unit on best practice in the recruitment process for Unit Hiring and Apprenticeship Program and looks for innovative ways to diversify applicant pools and expand outreach to the community. Resolves complex problems with support staff employees, student employees and department administrators in the administration of HR programs and functions.

 

10%        Analyzes, collects data and reports on scorecard measurements related to unit Equity, Inclusion and diversity efforts and employee engagement survey results
