Associate/Full Professor in Microbiomes

The University of South Florida (USF) Morsani College of Medicine (MCOM) is launching a call for the recruitment of high-level scientists in the field of Microbiomes.

 

USF has recently developed a very ambitious and bold strategic plan to become a premiere institution of higher research and learning. For example, USF has recently ranked in the top 50 nationally for research expenditures among all US universities.  USF has also recently ranked 15th worldwide among universities receiving US patents. Additionally, the Carnegie Foundation has designated USF in the top tier of research universities – Highest Research Activity. Finally, USF recently joined the ranks of just two other Florida institutions with its designation as a Preeminent State Research University.

 

Under the leadership of Christian Bréchot, MD, PhD, former president of the Institut Pasteur, USF Health offers positions at both the Associate and full Professor Levels in in the field of Microbiomes. We include in this call expertise in the areas of respiratory, skin, vaginal, and intestinal microbiomes. We would also like to encourage applications regarding the impact of such microbiomes on metabolic and heart diseases, neurodegenerative and psychiatric diseases, pre-term birth, and infectious diseases.

 

Requirements:

  • MD or MD/PhD
  • 7-10 year history of continuous NIH funding or high profile grants
  • Current NIH funding at the level of at least one R01 and greater than $350,000 in direct costs
  • At least 5 papers published in journals with an impact factor of 15 or higher
  • H-Index greater than 35
  • 7-10 years of experience as a principal investigator

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant expertise in immunology is preferred
  • Experience in establishing community relationships for philanthropic purposes
