Visiting Assistant Professor of Sport Management

The Department of Sport Management in the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa invites applications for a full-time, non-renewable, one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning in August 2019.

The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially based private institution of 9,200 undergraduate and graduate students. The University is ideally situated on a beautiful 110-acre campus next to the Hillsborough River, adjacent to Tampa’s dynamic central business district, which is a growing, vibrant, diverse metropolitan area. The teaching responsibilities associated with this position may include upper and lower level undergraduate courses such as Introduction to Sport Management, International Sport and Sport Media and Communications.

Candidates are expected to have a commitment to excellence in teaching and be committed to providing opportunities for experiential learning in their courses. A typical teaching load is 12 contact hours in a 14-week semester.

The department has five fulltime faculty members and over 300 majors. The program is accredited by COSMA and has recently been involved with a number of high profile events including the Women’s Final Four and The PGA Tour’s Valspar Championship. The University of Tampa is ideally located in downtown Tampa with numerous opportunities for student volunteer and internship experiences.

Minimum qualifications are a master’s degree in sport management or a closely related field. Preferential consideration may be given to candidates with a doctoral degree in sport management or a closely related field, sport industry work experience and prior collegiate teaching experience.
