The Degree Progress and Curricular Specialist (official title: Administrative Support Assistant) position has primary responsibility for supporting the Academic Services area by maintaining the accuracy and timeliness of curricular and advisement data in our PeopleSoft and Courseleaf systems. Working alongside campus faculty and academic staff, the incumbent will positively impact the UWM student experience through the development and enhancement of advisement and academic requirement reports and academic program tracking. This position will also program exceptions to degree requirements as approved and submitted by school/college advising representatives. Support curriculum management through testing upgrades and enhancements to the academic advisement module in Oracle Campus Solutions, the review of course and program proposals, and coding changes to UWM’s program/plan and curricular data. Work with academic departments to create and maintain program and course prerequisites, focusing on scheduling and course-sequencing to positively impact student progress towards degree. Act as a data reporter for these functions in particular, as well as in support of the Registrar’s Office. Finally, this position will provide broad-based support to projects and initiatives within the Academic Services area.
