Limited Term Appointment Instructor

The School of Planning at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia is seeking a full-time instructor in a 1.5-year, limited term appointment from August 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020. The instructor will possess the education and experience to teach broadly and supervise students in both the undergraduate community design and graduate planning programs. The instructor is expected to teach up to six courses a year. Teaching assignments will emphasize planning and community design curricula in environmental planning (e.g. site planning), studios (e.g. urban design, planning), and community development (e.g. land economics). The instructor will also assist graduate and undergraduate students in their senior independent projects (graduate) and honours theses (undergraduate). The instructor may assist the School of Planning with the annual conference and scheduling end of term presentation events. The instructor will serve on short-term committees in the School of Planning, as needed and as appropriate for the time frame of the appointment.

A candidate should hold an undergraduate or graduate degree in planning. A Ph.D. is desired. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of successful teaching at a university level related to the duties to be assigned. Eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners is desired; full membership would be considered an asset. Practicing planners with a post-graduate degree will also be considered for this position.
