Director of Human Resources System Operations

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Human Resources, this position provides overall leadership and strategically directs the business processes. Information Technology systems, and functional operations of Human Resources. This position will be responsible for the management of all HR systems, processes and data-related services. The incumbent will work closely with HR colleagues, as well as colleagues within Payroll, Budget and Financial Planning, Information Technology and the entire campus community to develop and support comprehensive business solutions to meet the needs of the University.

In partnership with other leadership positions in the Human Resources Department, this position will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for best practices in systems related to data management in the functional areas of human resources to include benefits, compensation, employment, performance, records and training management. This position will define business needs and requirements and identify opportunities to enhance existing processes and overall employee experience including leveraging existing and new technologies.

This position is expected to maintain up-to-date awareness of current trends in higher education business system(s) and processes with a focus on product and service development, delivery and support and applying key technologies in order to support the needs of key stakeholders.

Serves as the functional project manager for business processes, systems based information technology implementations and upgrades, as well as any local, state and federal ancillary systems. Serves as the data custodian for Human Resources data. Identifies opportunities to collaborate with the campus community to provide better information and communications to faculty and staff to enhance customer relations. Provides leadership in functional and technical support for issues encountered in all Human Resources systems.

Experience working in a central higher education human resources environment and leading business process analyses. 
Thorough knowledge of business processes, policies and procedures related to Higher Education Human Resources management. Experience with business transformation and business process redesign to support Information Technology system improvement and modernization. Extensive project management and experience designing and implementing systems relied upon by a higher education environment. Demonstrated analytical ability to effectively interpret complex policies and procedures, collect, compile, and interpret HR data and reports, to make recommendations on campus-wide policies and procedures. Exceptional organizational skills and ability to exercise professional discretion and judgment at all times. Proven record of successful supervisory, management, and leadership in a higher education environment. Highly professional, detail oriented, deadline and task oriented. Demonstrated skills in establishing priorities, delegating workloads, and managing multiple activities to meet the needs of a Human Resources office and other offices campus-wide. Demonstrated experience in multitasking and employing personal initiative, creativity, and problem solving skills for complex systems. Knowledge and understanding of SQL, current reporting tools, techniques and standards.

Advanced degree in a related field of study such as Information Systems, MIS, or Computer Science and three (3) years of administrative experience in Human Resources OR Advanced degree in business or related field or equivalent education, training and experience with 3-5 years of experience in human resource operations
