Chancellor

Penn State Brandywine

Chancellor

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking candidates for the position of Chancellor of Penn State Brandywine. The Chancellor serves as the chief executive and academic leader of the campus and is responsible for advancing its principal mission of excellence in teaching, research and service; strategic planning; budgeting; philanthropy; faculty and staff development; outreach; and alumni and community relations.

The position requires an individual who can lead a campus that is part of a twenty-four campus, student-centered, comprehensive research university.  In addition to providing academic and administrative leadership to the Brandywine campus, the chancellor sits on key leadership groups of the University including the Academic Leadership Council and Council of Campus Chancellors. The successful candidate will be an experienced, visionary leader with an entrepreneurial outlook who is able to take charge of an effective and thriving campus and capable of providing leadership for higher education in the region.  A minimum of five years of experience in higher education administration in a comprehensive, predominately undergraduate baccalaureate institution with responsibility for strategic oversight of personnel, planning, programs, communication, and resources is required. The successful candidate will have a commitment to high quality disciplinary and interdisciplinary education, as well as diversity and inclusion. Qualified candidates will have a terminal degree and the aptitude and willingness to lead significant fundraising efforts. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Penn State Brandywine is a thriving residential campus of Penn State, the land-grant University of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania serving over 90,000 students. The beautiful, suburban campus is located on 112 acres about 20 miles west of Philadelphia.  Current enrollment is 1,400 of which 12 percent are adult students. There are 60 full-time and 71 part-time faculty. Twelve baccalaureate and three associate degrees are offered at the campus.  Students may also complete the first two years of nearly all of Penn State’s 160+ baccalaureate degrees at the Brandywine campus and then transition to another Penn State campus to complete their studies.

Review of applications will begin in mid August and continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date is January 6, 2020.
