Position Summary

In October 2017, Carolina launched its most ambitious fundraising campaign ever – For All Kind: the Campaign for Carolina with a $4.25 billion goal. “Adopting a Global Mindset” is one of the campaign’s four strategic initiatives with a $300 million university-wide goal. The University aims to broaden its global impact throughout its teaching, research and service activities, and to enhance its global visibility. Already hailed as one of the country’s leading universities for global enrichment, Carolina aspires to provide the most diverse and innovative global learning opportunities anywhere.

Carolina Development is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Director of Development for UNC Global.  Reporting to the Director of Development for UNC Global, the Assistant Director will manage a portfolio of major gift prospects to support global programs and priorities for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  This position will also oversee the Chancellor’s Global Education Fund, in close collaboration with the University Annual Fund.  This unique position will also work collaboratively to develop strategies to increase and deepen relationships with supporters in key markets outside the U.S., international alumni clubs, and donors to the Chancellor’s Global Education Fund, both foreign and domestic.  

Education Requirements:  Bachelor's degree is required.  A Master's degree is preferred.

Qualification and Experience Requirements:
3-6 years of demonstrated successful development experience or transferrable experience required.  Ability to interact effectively in a global marketplace and a research university setting. Excellence in verbal and written communication and experience running an annual fund program is required.  The ability to motivate and engender the confidence of prospects and donors.  Exhibit the highest standards of professionalism and performance as evidenced by collaborative teamwork, initiative, critical thinking, good judgment, consistency of output, timeliness of follow-through and strength of written and verbal communication skills.  Travel – domestic and international – and some weekend work is required.
