The University of Denver (DU) invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice Provost for Internationalization.

The Vice Provost for Internationalization (VPI) leads the university on international programs, partnerships and services.  The VPI is responsible for developing and implementing the university’s comprehensive international agenda and globalization efforts.  The VPI is the public voice for international education and scholarship and plays a key role in promoting and facilitating cross-campus opportunities for international education, research, and engagement.    The VPI oversees a large and complex set of units, including the Center for World Languages and Cultures, the English Language Center, International Student and Scholar Services, and the Office of International Education, which runs DU’s hallmark undergraduate experience, the Cherrington Global Scholars program.  The VPI has responsibility for a growing internationalization curriculum that includes credit-bearing classes for study abroad and language learning.  The VPI is responsible for the development and continuation of DU’s strategic partnerships with select institutions abroad, an essential part of our long-term vision. 


The VPI has a significant impact on the University's intellectual life and academic future by working collaboratively to nurture a robust and engaged faculty culture while supporting research, teaching and service. These university wide issues involve participation across the academic divisions and colleges, and as such, fostering the support of the academic deans is central to the on-going positive impact of internationalization on university culture.  This position requires a person of bold vision and passionate commitment, a strong communicator with a broad expertise in international education.

The successful candidate for this position will have a clear and compelling vision for further developing and implementing the University of Denver’s international mission and engagement strategy. The successful candidate will also be a globally aware, innovative, entrepreneurial and visionary leader capable of motivating and collaborating with diverse teams to develop and execute plans to enhance the overall success of international education and engagement university wide. The successful candidate should have a demonstrated record of accomplishment in a leadership position related to international education at the university level.  An appropriate graduate degree, with a preference for a Ph.D. in an academic discipline and credentials that could qualify the applicant for a tenured faculty position OR significant international engagement and leadership experience preparing them to lead an office of internationalization in higher education is expected.
