DIRECTOR OF COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) seeks applications for the position of Director of Compensation and Benefits.

One of the nation’s leading public polytechnic universities, NJIT prepares students to be leaders in the technology dependent economy of the 21st century. NJIT is located in the vibrant University Heights district of downtown Newark, just 20 minutes from New York City by train.

 

Reporting to the Vice President for Human Resources, the Director of Compensation and Benefits will lead our compensation and benefits strategies and programs, provide strategic oversight and expertise, and assist in the development of long-term goals and strategic plans. The incumbent will be part of HR’s leadership team and will participate in project management and implementation of various programs and business initiatives that support university initiatives. In this leadership role, the incumbent will impact NJIT’s positioning as an employer of choice by ensuring that compensation and benefits are competitive to attract, retain, and reward employees.

 

Master's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Finance, Management, or a related field with at least seven years of program management experience in compensation, benefits or related role is required. Experience in developing and implementing broad-based compensation programs including base and pay for performance, benchmarking/market data, and job evaluation. Good verbal and written communications skills. Experience in data analysis, reporting, and presentation of compensation data. Demonstrated skill in use of Microsoft Excel and HR systems required (Banner experience preferred). Ability to translate complex concepts to facilitate decision-making. Preferred qualifications are experience in developing and leading compensation and or benefits program within a higher education environment as well as CCP, PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
