Nephrology TT Physician Scientist

The Department of Internal Medicine Division of Nephrology at The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine is recruiting tenure-track physician scientist at the level of Assistant, Associate or full Professor. Individuals with research interests in basic, clinical, translational and/or health service research are welcome to apply. The appointment will be in the Division of Nephrology with an expectation for clinical work in general nephrology. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary and start-up fund commensurate with research need. Wet laboratory space will be provided for candidates engaged in basic bench research.

The assignment consists of a clinical focus in general nephrology with responsibilities in staffing the inpatient renal consult service as well as the Nephrology Clinic at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in the teaching of trainees. Protected time effort for research is to be expected.    

MD or MD/PhD with strong basic and/or clinical science experience and with authorization to work in the U.S. is required. The successful candidates at Assistant Professor must display strong evidence of the potential for independence and the ability to obtain extramural funding.  For consideration at Associate or Full Professor, demonstrated evidence of independence and extramural funding is required. Candidates must have completed a Nephrology Fellowship from an accredited fellowship program.  Board Certification or Eligibility in Internal Medicine and Nephrology are required. 

Additional desirable qualifications are an interest in graduate medical education as evidenced by advanced training or experience teaching residents and/or fellows and demonstrated outstanding abilities and skills in teaching, organizational management, and clinical medicine.
