Special Assistant to the President for Diversity & Inclusion

Reporting directly to the President, the Special Assistant for Diversity and Inclusion provides strategic direction to the College’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, with particular attention to the institution’s policies, practices, structures, climate, and culture.  Working collaboratively with the College’s Director of Academic Diversity and Inclusion; the Director of Equity, Inclusion and Compliance; and other key stakeholders, this position directs initiatives designed to foster a welcoming and inclusive campus environment for all constituents, with a particular focus on students, staff, and alumni.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role at a higher education institution or in an equivalent field.  A successful track record of initiating institution-wide strategies, programs, and projects advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.  Demonstrated ability to work independently to meet stated objectives while maintaining collaborative relationships.  Strong communication and presentation skills.  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required and a Master’s degree is preferred.

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Special Assistant to the President for Diversity and Inclusion includes:

  • Leads stakeholder engagement efforts in the development and implementation of a College-wide plan for diversity and inclusion.
  • Serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet, partnering with College’s leadership and management team on all matters pertaining to diversity and inclusion and recommending solutions, as appropriate.
  • Provides leadership for a number of presidential priorities, including the College’s participation in the American Talent Initiative, the management of an Alumni Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Board, and the College’s Diversity Council.
  • Maintains knowledge of current industry trends in diversity & inclusion through reading, classes, webinars, and/or seminars and coordinates with Human Resources and College Counsel, as appropriate.
  • Participates in departmental and College committees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
