Lecturer in Italian and French

The Department of World Languages and Literatures in Dedman College at Southern Methodist University seeks a full-time, non-tenure-track lecturer (position number 00050078) with an ability to teach beginning and intermediate French and Italian beginning in fall semester 2019. One year contract, renewable. M.A. or equivalent in French and/or Italian required; Ph.D. preferred. Normal teaching load is twelve credit hours per semester. We seek dynamic candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching a variety of language and culture courses at the college level and with training in second language acquisition and pedagogy. Native or near-native proficiency in French, Italian, and English as well as experience teaching French and/or Italian at the university level are required.  Strong preference for candidates who can teach upper-level courses in either or both languages. Ability to develop and teach content courses in English, on topics like French and/or Italian cinema, literature, or culture, a plus.
