Vice President for Equity and Inclusion

Agnes Scott College invites applications and nominations for the new position of the inaugural Vice President for Equity and Inclusion (VPEI).

Reporting directly to President Leocadia “Lee” I. Zak, the Vice President for Equity and Inclusion will be a key member of the President’s Cabinet and a trusted advisor to the president. The Vice President for Equity and Inclusion will engage with students, faculty, staff, alumnae and the broader community to lead the campus in developing a vision and strategy for advancing equity and inclusion among its constituents.

Agnes Scott College was established in 1889 with a distinctive mission: to educate women for the betterment of their families and the elevation of their region. Today, that mission has evolved into a commitment to educate students from around the world to “think deeply, live honorably and engage the intellectual and social challenges of their times.” The Agnes Scott student body of 1,040 has expanded to include individuals who represent the diversity that is the United States and the world. Campus conversations about matters of inclusion and social justice are vibrant and plentiful.

The VPEI will serve as a visible campus and community leader, providing visionary and strategic leadership in equity and inclusion. It is expected that the VPEI will also implement the recommendations developed by the Task Force on Diversity and Inclusion, work with campus leaders to shape campus policies around equity and inclusion and provide support to faculty around issues of equity and inclusion.

The ideal candidate will be, first and foremost, a person of the highest integrity and be passionate about women's colleges and liberal arts education. Candidates should have strong experience in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion issues at a senior level coupled with an in-depth practice of serving people of different identities and familiarity with how these attributes apply to higher education. Candidates should bring a social justice lens to their work and have a global/international perspective.

Inquiries, nominations and applications are invited. For fullest consideration, applicant materials should be received by no later than April 15, 2019. Candidates should provide, as two separate documents, a curriculum vitae and a letter of application that addresses the themes and responsibilities described in the leadership profile found at www.wittkieffer.com. These materials should be sent electronically via e-mail to Agnes Scott College's consultants Charlene Aguilar and Christine Pendleton at AgnesScottVPEI@wittkieffer.com. The consultants can be reached by telephone through the desk of Candice Jones at 630-575-6929.
