Lecturer - Mathematics and Statistics
Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for a full-time lecturer to teach twelve contact hours per semester. This is a nine month, renewable, non-tenure track position starting in August of 2019. Evidence of excellence in teaching is required. Duties include teaching elementary mathematics and statistics classes, departmental and university service, and professional development.
Minimum Requirements: Masters’ Degree in Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications: Masters’ Degree with a concentration in Statistics.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers programs leading to undergraduate degrees in mathematics, statistics, and teacher licensure, as well as a graduate degree in mathematics, a graduate certificate in applied statistics, and a joint graduate degree in data science with the computer science department. The department consists of 28 faculty members, approximately 20 graduate students/teaching assistants and approximately 130 majors. (http://www.uncw.edu/math).
