The Director, Diversity & Inclusion Programs is responsible for managing the strategic deployment of resources and coordinating activities of the Chief Diversity Officer’s (CDO’s) office, including the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and the Office of Diversity, Inclusion, Community and Equity (DICE). The Director will lead the efforts of the office to develop initiatives and strategies around diversity, equity, and inclusion for the Yale School of Medicine’s Biological and Biomedical Sciences (BBS) Program. The Director will recruit and present at national conferences and major professional association meetings (e.g., ABRCMS, SACNAS, etc.). The Director will initially manage a staff of four with the anticipation of future growth. Ability to travel to National recruitment events and conferences (minimum of four (4) trips per year) and ability to flex time and intermittently work nights and weekends.
Required Education and Experience:
Master’s Degree in Business or Science and six years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
PhD preferred. Experience working with diverse communities and running pipeline programs
- Demonstrated supervisory and employee relations experience which includes mentoring and training of staff and trainees
- Demonstrated program development, management and evaluation experience for new and existing academic, career and networking programs or related areas
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook and other related software programs
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
- Strong analytical, research and organizational skills with the ability to manage decision making for multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment
