OLLU features a historic main campus, a dynamic president, a progressive approach to curricular development, a richly diverse community, an exceptional record of service to others, and a fruitful relationship with one of the fastest-growing and vibrant cities in the country.

A comprehensive liberal arts and sciences university sponsored by the Sisters of the Congregation of Divine Providence, OLLU enrolls approximately 3,200 diverse undergraduates, graduate students, and adult learners at its beautiful French Gothic San Antonio campus, at its branch campuses in the Houston area and in the Rio Grande Valley, and via online programs. Reporting to the President, the Provost is a senior member of the President’s leadership team and acts for the President in her absence. As chief academic officer for the university, the Provost provides overall leadership for academics, working collaboratively with the academic administration and Faculty Assembly to develop and implement comprehensive academic and extracurricular programs for faculty and students, ensuring quality, innovation, collaboration, and service. The Provost is responsible for academic strategy and plans, designs, and allocates resources in collaboration with all vested stakeholders. In addition, the Provost supervises the Vice President for Student Affairs and collaborates with the President in the supervision of the Athletic Director, ensuring a coordinated approach to student retention, success, and persistence to graduation.

The next Provost and VPAA will be an experienced and accomplished academic leader who personifies the values, vision, and mission of the institution. They will commit to participating in the Catholic rituals and Mexican-American traditions that are foundational to OLLU's heritage. The next Provost will have the ability to work effectively with students, parents, alumni, faculty, administrators, community, high school personnel, and corporate partners to ensure a transformative education experience for OLLU students. The ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience in strategic academic planning; an understanding of emerging research and best practices related to student retention, persistence, and graduation, especially in relationship to student success among under-represented and Latina/o populations; be versed in alternative instructional delivery models including traditional, distance, and hybrid; and be a strong advocate for the faculty. Strong written and oral communication skills, a collegial and collaborative approach to leadership, and a passion for working with diverse populations are essential qualities sought in the next Provost.
