The Maine Business School (AACSB Accredited) at the University of Maine seeks applicants for a non-tenure-track, academic-year position at the rank of Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor in Operations Management (rank is open). Applicants must have a master’s degree in Management, Business or Operations Management or a PhD in Management, Operations Management or Management Information Systems from an AACSB accredited program, with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2019. This will be a two-year, fixed-length position. This position is non-renewable. Preference will be given to those with a clear desire to help students learn to integrate complex business materials into solving real business problems with documented teaching experience, and knowledge of presentation software and blackboard.

The successful candidate will be expected to have a record of effective and engaging teaching, as well as a clear commitment to students, and the assurance of learning system. Further, the MBS expects faculty to advise and mentor undergraduates in pursuit of their academic and research goals, and to collaborate with colleagues to increase student success. Visiting faculty are expected to either maintain professional affiliations or have a quality research program (publish in peer-reviewed journals). The position will offer a competitive salary, teaching innovation support, research support, and a teaching load commensurate with similar sized research universities.

The typical teaching load is three courses one semester and two courses one semester. Courses will typically have between 40 and 60 students in each section. Service to the School, University, and the Community is required. The candidate should also foster collaborative relationships with the business community.

The successful candidate is required to have a PhD (or its equivalent) from an AACSB-accredited program in Management, Operations Management, or Management Information Systems, demonstrate evidence of quality teaching and demonstrate the ability to engage in quality research. Professional certification and relevant professional experience are a plus. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Preference will be given to those with prior teaching experience, operations management experience, and knowledge of Blackboard.
