Assistant Vice Provost and Director of Admissions

Washington University in St. Louis (WashU), one of the world’s leading teaching and research universities, seeks nominations and applications for an inaugural Assistant Vice Provost and Director of Admissions (AVP and Director).

WashU has been on a tremendous trajectory with excellence in teaching, ground-breaking research, and a strong commitment to community. The university's forward momentum is reflected in enrollment, as the number and quality of applicants from around the world has increased dramatically over the past two decades. Reporting to the Vice Provost for Admissions and Aid, the new admissions leader will further this progress and provide strategic direction and oversight for the undergraduate recruitment, selection and admissions process. Achieving the university's goal of excellence and diversity, the AVP and Director will provide leadership for a highly cohesive and dedicated admissions team and foster strategic planning, analysis, coordination, and communication across Admissions and Aid and within the greater WashU community.

As WashU prepares to begin a new chapter in its extraordinary history, it seeks an admissions leader and thinker who will grasp the essential nature of this preeminent institution and employ innovative means to expand the university’s visibility to attract, select, and enroll an increasingly diverse and talented group of students. The successful candidate will be an admissions leader of great skill and experience. The ability to work collaboratively as member of the Admissions and Aid leadership team is essential, as is a strong work ethic and the drive to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. In addition, the new leader will possess a commitment to WashU's mission and values; exceptional communication, strategic planning, change-management, and analytical skills; an ability to work independently and collaboratively across units; and a proven record of advancing diversity, access, and inclusivity goals.

Washington University is driven by a clear purpose: to create an environment that encourages and supports intellectual and personal collaboration to make a difference in the lives of its students, its community, and the world. Located in St. Louis, Missouri, the Danforth Campus is the heart of WashU and is the academic home to the majority of the university's undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. In 2017, WashU launched a transformational project on the East End of campus to align with the university's core academic mission of groundbreaking discovery, research, and teaching. All buildings will be designed to achieve LEED-Gold certification, including the Gary M. Sumers Welcome Center, a 25,500-square-foot building, which will receive campus visitors and house the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Student Financial Services.

Inquiries, nominations, and applications are invited. Review of applications has begun and will continue until the position is filled; interested candidates are encouraged to submit materials as soon as they are able, providing a professional resume and a letter of application that addresses the opportunities, responsibilities, and requirements described in the leadership profile available at www.wittkieffer.com. These materials should be sent electronically via e-mail to the university’s consultants, Amy Crutchfield and Shelley Arakawa at WashUAdmissions@wittkieffer.com.
