Lecturer in Russian

Position No. 00700114.  The Department of World Languages and Literatures in Dedman College at Southern Methodist University seeks a full-time, non-tenure-track lecturer in Russian beginning fall semester 2019.  One-year contract, renewable. M.A. or equivalent in Russian required; Ph.D. strongly preferred. Normal teaching load is twelve credit hours per semester. We seek dynamic candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching a variety of language and culture courses at the college level and with training in second language acquisition and pedagogy. Native or near-native proficiency in Russian and English as well as experience teaching Russian at the university level are required.  Special consideration will be given to candidates with the ability to develop specialized courses in Russian, including language for the professions.  Experience or willingness to develop and teach beginning and intermediate Russian language courses online is a plus.  SMU is global research university located in the heart of Dallas, one of the country’s most vibrant and dynamic metropolitan areas.  The Department of World Languages and Literatures is a dynamic department housing ten languages and fourteen different degree programs, and it serves all of SMU's 6000 undergraduates through the university-wide language requirement.  To ensure full consideration for the position, the application must be received by March 31, 2019, but the committee will continue to accept applications until the position is filled.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.  The committee will notify applicants of its employment decision by email after the position is filled.
