Assists in the leadership of the operational oversight for all aspects of advising, application, and course registration for the varying student types applying to any college and pre-college program. Independently responds to inquiries about college and pre-college programs and assesses students' needs as questions and problems arise. Coordinates and/or processes on-line applications of varying complexity for programs and scholarships based on established criteria. Evaluates high school transcripts according to UC a-g requirements. Interacts closely and collaboratively with Academic Coordinators, Summer Sessions (SS) and other campus staff, and, as appropriate, third-party vendors to coordinate and implement the academic and administrative arrangements for the programs. Enrolls students into appropriate courses and makes necessary enrollment-related changes in the Registrar's system during the program. Assists students as needed to establish their UCSBnetID and access other university systems; provides information on all available academic support services. Administers and monitors social media accounts established for any college or pre-college programs. Distributes and collects course and/or program evaluations. Supervises student assistants assigned to special programs/services and is a member of the intern hiring committee. Contributes to the assessment and update of online application content, recruitment strategies, and provides content to relevant pages on the Summer Sessions website. Participates in annual debrief and analysis of programs with Academic Coordinators and SS Directors, and recommends improvements as needed for future summer terms. Serves as key member of the office special programs team. Represents UCSB Summer Sessions at various local and/or regional events that promote college and pre-college programs to students, parents and high school counselors. Liaisons with Office of Development regarding fundraising or scholarship events.

 

Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2 years of higher education advising experience. Able to interpret policies and procedures and accurately communicate them to others as needed. Ability to work in both independent and team settings. Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs. Able to exercise professional judgement, maintain confidentiality, and possess creative problem-solving skills.

 

Notes: Fingerprint background check required. No extended vacations may be taken during spring or while programs are in session. Must work occasional weekend and/or evening hours while programs are in session, as needed.

 

Salary: $22.56-$28.64/hr.
