Dean of the College of Nursing

Texas Woman’s University (TWU) invites nominations, expressions of intent, and applications for an exceptional leader to serve as the Dean of the College of Nursing (CON). The Dean will work across the University administration, faculty, staff and students to build and implement a strategic vision for current and future nursing programs, initiatives, and research in the CON.

Research conducted at the TWU CON creates new knowledge every day to transform health care and the way it is delivered to patients in our society. The TWU CON is advancing as a nationally-ranked program in federal funding. The CON received nearly $4.5 million in research funding from sources that included the United States Health Resources & Services Administration, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the United States Department of Veteran Affairs.

Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the College. The Dean provides academic leadership and oversees the short- and long-range goals and objectives both withstanding and external to the college. In addition, the Dean directs and evaluates the associate deans, and other direct report staff within the college. Responsibilities include academic management, fiscal management, quality assurance, faculty and staff evaluation, grants and research oversight, program planning and evaluation, community relations and resource development. Work is performed under minimal supervision with evaluation based on the effective operation of the administrative function. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.

The Dean will have an established record of teaching, research and service at a level consistent with TWU requirements for the rank of full professor. A minimum of five years of academic administrative leadership experience and achievement in positions of progressively-increasing responsibility is required. A highly qualified candidate will have substantial experience in curricular development, budget management, research facilitation and external funding, academic leadership and management of instruction.
