Movement Instructor – BFA and MFA Acting Program

The Acting Program in the CalArts School of Theater, one of the foremost performance programs in the world, seeks applicants for a full-time faculty position in Movement to begin in the Fall of 2019.

Duties:
The position includes teaching métier BFA and MFA movement courses, mentoring both BFA and MFA students in their professional and artistic goals, advising students involved in Theater School projects, and being part of a collaborative faculty with cross-disciplinary impulses dedicated to fostering programmatic growth in this area. The position also includes, but is not limited to, annual recruitment duties and service on committees.

The primary emphasis for the Movement instructor will be the expansion of the physical ability of the student actor. The instructor will lead students through a variety of methods to explore and establish greater awareness, strength, flexibility, dexterity, coordination, and control. The instructor will challenge, advance, and refine students’ implementation of their own creative impulses and aesthetics.
