Vice President for Administration and Finance

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ferris State University (FSU) invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice President for Administration and Finance.  FSU seeks an exceptional leader with a strong record of administrative, financial, operational and professional accomplishment, as well as community engagement, to serve in this key leadership position.  FSU also seeks a background in athletics, Information Technology, along with knowledge of a residential campus community. The new Vice President will have the opportunity to be part of the leadership of the University seeking to provide higher education to students.   It is essential that the successful candidate live in the Big Rapids community.

Ferris State University is located in Big Rapids, MI with a population of approximately 13,000.  The University employees approximately 1,300 people and has a Big Rapids campus student population of approximately 11,000.  Ferris State University was founded in 1884 and is a leading career focused university, providing education to make its graduates immediately employable in their chosen fields.

Reporting directly to the University President, the Vice President for Administration & Finance is the chief financial officer of the University and is a member of the executive team that participates in Board of Trustee meetings and serves as Treasurer of the Ferris Foundation.  Units reporting to the Vice President include: Athletics, Auxiliary Enterprises (including Residential Life and Dining Services), Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Physical Plant (including planning, design and construction) and Public Safety.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required – The successful candidate will be a high energy leader with a track record of success as a senior administrative officer.  Key qualifications include: a Master’s degree, with a preference for an MBA or other related degree; at least eight years of progressively responsible administrative and/or financial management experience, preferably in a large complex higher education institution; superb interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated ability to build and lead effective, diverse management teams; proven ability to work effectively in a shared governance and collective bargaining environment; and demonstrated skills in strategic and tactical budget and financial planning and policy development, problem solving, and risk management.  The successful candidate will also have the ability to work positively and effectively with the academic community, public officials, media representatives and the public.  The candidate must be a team builder who is highly motivated, a self-starter and a dedicated professional who has demonstrable commitment to service, support of the academic mission and continued advancement of the University.

SALARY:

Salary is commensurate with qualifications
