Associate Dean, Graduate College

Missouri State University, located in Springfield, Missouri, invites nominations and applications for the position of Associate Dean of the Graduate College. As an administrative officer of the College, the Associate Dean is expected to provide professional, intellectual, and administrative leadership while helping to craft and pursue a vision consistent with the Public Affairs mission of the university. The Associate Dean is expected to support faculty, staff, and students by promoting excellence in teaching and scholarship; encouraging faculty development; facilitating student recruitment and retention; monitoring student academic success; providing indirect supervision of the teaching, research and service activities of the Graduate College; supporting a commitment to diversity; assisting the Graduate College Dean with building partnerships with external constituents and public organizations; and demonstrating sound fiscal management.

Candidates must have the following:

1) A terminal degree and credentials consistent with an appointment at the rank of full professor

2) Evidence of at least five years of university teaching or administrative experience. 

3) Experience with education of international students

4) Evidence of successful leadership and communication skills

5) A demonstrated commitment to diversity.  A record of inclusive conduct and evidence of multicultural skills in the workplace are required.

The Graduate College works directly with the seven academic colleges at Missouri State University to oversee all master’s, specialist, and doctoral degrees. The seven academic colleges are:

  • College of Arts and Letters
  • College of Business
  • College of Education
  • College of Health and Human Services
  • College of Humanities and Public Affairs
  • College of Natural and Applied Sciences
  • Darr College of Agriculture
