Wichita State University seeks an experienced, dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the Dean of the Graduate School and Associate Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer. This senior administrative appointment will assume leadership of a very strong and diverse academic unit with a growing national reputation.

The university is located in Wichita, Kansas, a diverse metropolitan area of approximately 640,000, and is located along the I-35 corridor.  The economic base of the region is in technology-based industries, aviation and health care.  The university has a strong research base and is taking a leadership role in developing innovation and technology in the area.

The Dean and Associate Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer primarily reports directly to the Provost and serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the Graduate School, with a secondary reporting line to the VP for Research and Technology Transfer. The primary responsibility of the Dean/AVP is to advance the academic quality and stature of the graduate programs at Wichita State, which is student-centered, innovation driven, and entrepreneurial focused. This requires a visionary leader who is committed to strategic planning, interdisciplinary collaboration, ethical leadership, and who is skilled in human and financial resource management. The Dean/AVP will assist with the advancement of WSU as an innovation university by focusing on increasing graduate enrollment, workforce development, applied learning, funded research, tech transfer, and private fundraising. Close collaboration with on/off campus industry partners will be essential. The Dean/AVP will provide leadership that embraces emerging directions in graduate education and building, shaping, and leading graduate research initiatives.

The new Dean of the Graduate School and Associate Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer will arrive at Wichita State University at an extremely exciting time as the university embarks on developing, building, and transforming into an Innovation University.   This new culture of innovation is geared toward business creation and reviving Wichita’s entrepreneurship ecosystem to reach the goal of global competiveness and will provide graduate students a new wealth of opportunities in research, technology transfer, and employment partnerships with local industry.
