Extension Plant Pathologist

This position will be responsible for development of a highly effective and relevant applied field research and extension program to help county agents, consultants, growers and industry resolved current and future plant disease problems in a wide array of Arkansas field and specialty crops. This program will need to be successful in extramural funding and the position holder will be expected to advise industry and the Division of Agriculture regarding plant disease issues within program expertise. The successful candidate will plan, develop and implement high quality training programs for county agents and others as well as evaluate impact. The candidate will be expected to develop high quality publications, social media programs and other communication methods as well as advise graduate students as opportunity permits. The candidate will also fully participate in the Department and provide service as assigned.

Required: 

Earned Doctorate by time of hire in plant pathology or closely related field. Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must. Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team setting and with diverse audiences required. Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform all responsibilities of a complex position with long and irregular work hours and extensive travel, often in field settings.
