Director of Collegiate Drug and Alcohol Prevention and Recovery

This is a 5 year, grant funded position. Renewal is contingent upon available funding through the Arizona Governor's Office of Youth, Faith and Family (GOYFF). 

This position reports to the Associate Vice President and Dean of Student Development.
Develop, implement, and promote educational and prevention programs for student underage drinking and marijuana use and evaluate program effectiveness. 
Recruit, train, and supervise part time staff, student employees and peer mentors. Implement Certified Peer Educator Training Curriculum for participating students.
Responsible for oversight of the development of educational material in collaboration with Yavapai College Marketing Department.  Material will promote alcohol and marijuana awareness, prevention, and social norming for college aged students. Manage department budget and grant.
Annually mentor at least 40 students individually by meeting with them to discuss healthy lifestyles without alcohol and marijuana use.  Guide and oversee the development and implementation of a student Health and Wellness Club.
Facilitate monthly presentations to the campus community served by the grant district wide.  Coordinate related activities, fairs and campaigns to target the prevention and recovery needs of students.
Work closely with the Yavapai College CARE Team, Title IX Coordinator, Wellness Coordinator and College Police as appropriate.
Participate in local and regional coalitions, associations and professional networks to strengthen community collaboration, benchmark best practices and enhance operational effectiveness. Work in collaboration with local universities and high schools to host bi-annual conferences. Attend quarterly meetings of the Arizona Institute of Higher Education (AZIHE). 
Regional, in-state, and out of state travel may be required periodically.

MINIMUM EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

- Master's Degree in counseling, clinical psychology or closely related field
- Must be independently licensed in Arizona to provide direct patient care without additional clinical supervision. License must be current. Certification may include LPC, LCSW, or LMFT.
- Requires 4-5 years of paid or volunteer experience in providing direct behavioral health services, education and/or intervention.
- Experience in clinical recordkeeping.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations including HIPAA, FERPA, Title 42, CFR Part 2, ARS § 36-2813.
- Additional training or certification may be required to maintain grant compliance.

PREFERRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

-Experience with training and program development related to substance abuse prevention and/or recovery.
-Experience with student or youth populations.
-Experience with crisis counseling.
-Experience supervising staff in a substance abuse prevention and/or recovery support environment.

  • Sick Leave: 12 days sick leave annually. NOTE: Employees working less than full time or an amount of contractual days will receive a proration of sick leave.
  • Personal Leave: Use of up to three personal leave days per year which are charged against accumulated sick leave to take care of items of personal business
  • Other Leave: Bereavement leave, Civic Duty Leave (Jury duty, active military duty, military training), and Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
  • Holidays: 23 days during the year as paid holidays for full-time employees which include Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, 3 days at Thanksgiving, Winter/year end break (10 days), Martin Luther King Day, Spring Break and Memorial Day
