Deputy Director of Development
The School of Information and Library Science (SILS) seeks to advance the profession and practice of librarianship and information science; to prepare students for careers in the field of information and library science; and to make significant contributions to the study of information. Faculty members further these goals by teaching and advisory work; by research and scholarly publishing; and by service to the School, the university, the state, and the professional community.
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Deputy Director of Development at the School of Information and Library Science (SILS) will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects and donors at the major gift level of $100K and higher. The Deputy Director will also work with the Director of Development to advance and refine a strategic comprehensive development plan for private support through planned gifts, major gifts, leadership annual giving and corporate gifts. This position will maintain an active pipeline of qualified individual and corporate prospects and donors, engaging and motivating donors, volunteers, faculty, administrators and staff. He/she will staff and support the SILS Board of Visitors (BOV), serve on advisory committees including SILS Alumni Inclusion and Diversity (SAID) and Information Trends Advisory Roundtable (ITAR), and plan fundraising and stewardship events, particularly as they relate to major gift prospects and donors; He/she will participate in planning for and execution of annual appeals and targeted mailings to build membership and recruit leadership gifts as well as targeted outreach efforts by mail and social media. Local, regional, and national travel and some evening and weekend work required.
60% – Identify, cultivate, solicit and stewards prospects at the major gift level to the University of $100K and more.
10% – Maintain an active pipeline of SILS qualified prospects and donors. Engage and motivate donors, volunteers, faculty, administrators and staff at events and activities as appropriate.
10% – Create a strategic comprehensive development plan for private support through planned gifts, major gifts, leadership annual giving and corporate gifts.
10% – Staff and support SILS BOV, SAID, and ITAR
10% – Plan fundraising and stewardship events
